Through “St’ART” project we want to stimulate the city
to look at itself and at its needs. We intend involve students and teachers in looking into their cultural heritage and realities and in trying to find possible solutions to recover their cities through ART,
or simply in trying to sensitise the community.
Art offers solutions: it ‘wants to live’ the city,
it can give the city new life and a new vital imput.
We want to make people aware of the problems but also
to set possible solutions; we intend to suggest
an urban renewal through a social awareness campaign involving the whole town, including public administrators and politicians, shopkeepers, students, teachers or simple citizens.

Porto:
We are very proud of having taken part in St’ART. It was a very dynamic experience that managed to enrich both our institution and our school community in ways we will never forget. Undoubtedly, our participation wouldn’t have been so successful if we hadn’t had the help of our dear community: EMP’s Board of Directors, Teachers, Staff, Students and their Parents.
A word of acknowledgment to our Board of Directors for having trusted us and for having given us the chance and providing all the logistics to put our ideas into practice: Dra Matilde Rocha, Dr Hugo Vieira and Dra Marina Prego.
We must thank the active and enthusiastic participation of the teachers Luciana Marques, Sandra Gandarela, Patrícia Pinto, Maria Azevedo, Vânia Santos, Alexandra Xavier, Clementina Delgado, Jordann Santos and our beloved students, who were tireless and joyful throughout the entire project.
A special thanks goes to the Head of Education of Oporto’s City Hall, Dra Otilia Oliveira and the Vowel of Education, João Fontes; the Head of Education of Bonfim Parish, Dr Hugo Pinho and all the Parish’s staff; Matilde Seabra and all the members of Galeria Municipal do Porto; Dr Jorge Ricardo Pinto from ISCET, Mauro Cerqueira, Plastic Artist and all the inhabitants from the “Ilhas” of Bonfim who kindly welcomed St’ART’s delegation in their homes. Without their contribution the project wouldn’t have reached the community in such great depth.
Last, but not least, we would like to thank our partners from Italy, Spain and Iceland for the friendly and warm manner in which they welcomed us into their HOUSES. We have reached the bitter-sweet moment to finish this project but with the comfort of knowing that it will be the St’ART of challenging new partnerships.
